Let's Keep Decatur Bee-utiful is an effort to support and build upon the work already being implemented by many organizations towards the beautification of the Decatur, IL area. A business's 'curb appeal' sends a message to its customers and patrons. An attractive, clean environment tells its customers that the business owner cares about them and the larger Decatur community. Our goal with this contest is to highlight businesses who have a welcoming presence and to encourage all Decatur businesses to develop an attractive front to the public. There's absolutely no cost to apply!

Small, Medium, or Large, based on number of employees.

Contest Participants will receive:

  • A Bee-utiful sign for your business!
  • Publicity for your business in the Herald & Review, The Business Journal, and on Facebook!
  • Top winner in each category receives a $350 gift certificate redeemable at From the Ground Up Landscapes!
  • Second place winner in each category receives a $200 gift certificate redeemable at Connie's Country Greenhouse!
  • Third place winner in each category receives a $100 gift certificate redeemable at Cedar Lake Gardens and Gifts!
  • Speed Lube $350 Continued Excellence Award: To qualify for this category, business must have won an award more than once.
  • Lowe's Best in Show Award: $350 gift certificate: Award selected from one of the three first place winners.
  • Special AIB Award for best use of Red and Gold.
  • All winners will receive a trophy courtesy of Caterpillar.
  • Register by May 15 for a chance to win a lovely blooming planter, courtesy of Connie's Country Greenhouse!

Deadline for applications is June 8, 2018
Judging will take place June 11, 12, & 13.

    Judging Checklist:
    1. Nice, well-maintained landscaping: trimmed and weed-free. (5 possible points)
    2. No litter around entire perimeter, including: fence line, tree line, sidewalk, parking lot, and street. If dumpster is present, top must be down. (5 possible points)
    3. Well maintained facade and absence of graffiti. (5 possible points)
    4. Well-maintained hardscape: lamp posts, benches, fences, walkways, signage, etc.. (5 possible points)
    5. WOW factor: impressive overall first impression or impact. (10 possible points)
